A donation for CCPR – Acari!
May 23, 2011Piëta van der Werf decided that for her 65th birthday instead of a present for herself, she wanted to ask her friends to donate to a good cause and chose the MiCamichula foundation.
We met each other a year ago in Rio de Janeiro, a city she loved and where she first got to know our foundation, and seeing as she and her friends wanted to support a project they know personally, it was a perfect fit.
Piëta’s friends raised an impressive amount of money and Piëta herself and her husband Jaap donated some of their own money as well, to the incredible total amount of EUR 1000. This will go to CCPR, the cultural centre in Acari where MiCamichula is currently active. Acari is one of the most violent neighbourhoods of
Rio de Janeiro and together with a group of local funk and hip hop MC’s we started CCPR last year. MiCamichula specifically supports the silkscreen activities. We are currently in contact with our local partners and the silkscreen teacher in order to decide what is the best way to spend this generous contribution. We will keep you posted.
For now, a very warm thank you to Piëta her family and friends!
